Building History: The three story building was built in 1918 to house blacksmiths working at the Ford Motor Company Model T factory on nearby Lake Union. After the factory closed; the building was in use as an apartment building for many years. In October 1998; the MarQueen opened its doors as a luxury boutique hotel. The name "MarQueen" is a local name with a long history in Queen Anne thought to indicate a connection between the sea view and the Queen Anne district.
